Sermorelin

Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino-acid peptide, GRF(1-29) amide, corresponding to the N-terminal fragment of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) and reported to retain the activity of the full-length peptide. It was formerly approved in the United States as Geref for diagnostic evaluation of pituitary growth hormone secretion and for paediatric idiopathic growth hormone deficiency; the approvals were withdrawn in 2009 following commercial discontinuation, which the FDA determined was unrelated to safety or effectiveness. Published paediatric endocrinology literature includes comparative clinical studies in children with growth hormone deficiency (Chen et al., Acta Paediatrica Suppl 1993) and reviews of its diagnostic and clinical development history (Prakash and Goa, BioDrugs 1999).
