TB-500

TB-500 is a research designation applied to thymosin beta-4, an endogenous 43-amino-acid actin-sequestering peptide assigned the international nonproprietary name timbetasin; some suppliers apply the label to the shorter actin-binding fragment instead. The published record is predominantly preclinical, with rodent dermal wound-repair models among the earliest reports (Malinda et al., Journal of Investigative Dermatology 1999) and rodent corneal injury models examined subsequently. Human data are largely confined to ophthalmic formulations of thymosin beta-4, evaluated in the randomized, placebo-controlled ARISE Phase 3 programme in dry eye. Non-ophthalmic human evidence remains sparse.
