BPC-157 vs TB-500

The two most-studied peptides in the tissue-repair literature. They are frequently mentioned together and are not structurally related; the mechanisms examined in published work are different.

Research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. This page compares what each compound is and what published literature has examined. It does not describe outcomes, does not recommend either material, and is not guidance on use.

How they differ

Origin

BPC-157 is a synthetic fifteen-residue sequence derived from a protein found in gastric juice. TB-500 is a synthetic fragment corresponding to the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4, an endogenous protein present in most cell types.

Mechanism examined

Published BPC-157 work concentrates on angiogenic signalling and growth-factor receptor expression in preclinical models. TB-500 literature concentrates on actin sequestration and cell migration, following from thymosin beta-4's role in regulating actin polymerisation.

Size

BPC-157 is the smaller molecule at fifteen residues; TB-500 is a seven-residue fragment of a larger parent protein. Both are unmodified peptides without lipidation or other half-life engineering.

Evidence base

Both are studied almost entirely in vitro and in animal models. Neither is an approved medicine in the United States, and the published human data for both is limited.
