Neuropeptides

Neuropeptide research compounds

Short synthetic peptides studied in relation to central nervous system signalling: a pineal-derived tetrapeptide, analogues of tuftsin and of the ACTH(4-7) fragment, and the nonapeptide DSIP. Published work examines telomerase activity in cell culture, neurotrophin and immune-related gene expression, and behavioural endpoints in rodent models, together with electroencephalographic recordings in animal sleep studies. Human data for the class are limited and, for several members, largely confined to older Russian-language literature.
