Reference comparison
MOTS-c vs NAD+
Both appear in mitochondrial research and they are entirely different kinds of molecule - one is a peptide encoded in mitochondrial DNA, the other a cellular cofactor.

How they differ
What they are
MOTS-c is a 16-residue mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA region. NAD+ is nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a cofactor central to redox reactions in every cell - not a peptide at all.
Mechanism examined
Published MOTS-c work examines metabolic signalling, AMPK pathway activity and nuclear translocation under metabolic stress. NAD+ research concerns cellular redox balance, sirtuin and PARP activity, and the salvage pathway that maintains cellular pools.
Scale
The practical difference is mass. NAD+ is supplied at 500 mg per vial and MOTS-c at 10 mg, a fifty-fold difference reflecting the very different quantities used in the respective literature.
Handling
Both ship as sterile lyophilised powder. The larger NAD+ vial is supplied in 5 mL glass rather than the 3 mL standard, simply because of the mass involved.
